Book Review Criteria
I'm pretty lenient when it comes to criteria. I prefer paranormal, scifi, and fantasy. I don't care if the sub-genre is romance. I will also review mysteries and comedies if they hit my fancy.
I only accept polished works. This means it must be an ebook format from a distributor and not a PDF off your home computer (for example). The reason for this is so I am seeing the same thing the reader is seeing. I don't want to have to make comments about formatting that aren't relevant.
If, for any reason, the book is not up to my standards, I will stop reading. I will email you back with a critique of what I read up to that point. I will include areas of improvement. Usually, I try to give specific examples, thus the preference for ePub and MOBI as I can annotate in those. Usually, I do this because the book hasn't been through an adequate editing process, which prevents me from making an accurate review of the content of the book without bias. I will not give negative reviews. My goal isn't to frag your career but to recommend good books to readers and, when possible, help writers get their books into readers' hands. Sometimes, that means encouraging them to go back and change some things. I feel it is better to have a book lie in obscurity for a little longer until it is worthy than be ragged in public and never have a shot.
If I do complete your book and give a review, I will send a complete critique of the entire novel, including details I didn't include in the review. This is usually things like a missed word here or there. I make no guarantees as to how long it will take me to send the critique.
Under Social Media, please include all you have. This includes twitter, facebook, Goodreads author and book pages (all of them, if you like), links to buy you books, your website/blog, and et cetera.
I try to respond to each request, ideally within a few days, but this isn't always the case.
Also, keep in mind that, though it usually only takes me a few days to read a book, there are many reasons that may delay me. I make no promises. I have some books that have been sitting for quite a while because I was busy or wasn't in the mood for that specific genre, which would negatively impact my review of the book. I strive to review solely on the merits or demerits of a book and not any prejudices my mindset may lay upon me at the moment.
